Notification for Admission into M.Phil & Ph.D Programs 2018-19
Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Open University, Hyderabad MPhil and PhD Admission 2018 : Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Open University invites applications from eligible candidates for admission into M.Phil. & PhD Programs in English, Hindi, Telugu, Business Management, Commerce, Education, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Mathematics, Physics, Economics, History, Library & Information Science, Political Science, Public Administration and Sociology for the academic year 2018-19.
Eligibility of Admission into M.Phil & Ph.D Programs 2018-19
A candidate should possess Master’s Degree in the subject concerned from a recognized university, with a minimum of 55% (50% in the case of SC/ST candidates) of marks for admission into both M.Phil. and Ph.D. programmes.
Admission Procedure for Admission into M.Phil & Ph.D Programs 2018-19
Admission into M.Phil. and Ph.D. programme shall be through an entrance examination (written test) followed by an interview. However, the applicants qualified at the UGC/CSIR/JRF/NET/SLET/M.Phil./GATE tests are exempted from appearing for the entrance test provided they register themselves for the admission by paying the requisite fee.
Medium Admission into M.Phil & Ph.D Programs 2018-19
The medium of instruction and examination for M.Phil. and Ph.D., entrance test, course work and writing dissertation/thesis shall be English only. In case of languages, the medium of instruction and other activities shall be in the language concerned.
How to Apply for Admission into M.Phil & Ph.D Programs 2018-19
The candidates can download the Application-cum-Prospectus for M.Phil. and Ph.D. programmes from the university website www.braou.ac.in and submit the filled-in application form along with photo copies of certificates of the qualifying examination with marks memos and a Demand Draft for Rs. 500 (Rupees Five Hundred only) drawn on any nationalized bank in favour of “The Registrar, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Open University, Hyderabad”. Separate applications have to be submitted for M.Phil. and Ph.D. programmes if the candidate wants to apply for both.

Last Date for Sale and Submission of Application Forms: 18th June 2018 (05.00 PM)
PhD Entrance Examination : 29th July 2018 at 10.00 AM to 12.00 Noon
MPhil Entrance Examination : 29th July 2018 at 02.00 PM to 04.00 PM
Note: Entrance Test will be held at Hyderabad ONLY
Duration of the Program
The minimum period of study for PhD shall be three years from the date of admission, out of which one semester is allotted to the course work and remaining period is for the writing the thesis However, for the candidates admitted with MPhil degree, the minimum period for submission of thesis is two years only; the maximum period allowed is five years in both the cases Candidate who could not complete the program within the stipulated period, may be given an extension of not more than one year, if warranted by the merits of the case
Payment of Fee
The candidate has to pay an amount of Rs 10,000/- per annum for two years for MPhil towards tuition fee and Rs.1000/- towards admission fee; in addition to this, the Science students having practical component have to bear the cost of consumables/ field work/ hiring of equipment’s etc.
The candidate who could not submit the dissertation within the maximum period prescribed will be allowed for an extension of the period for one more year on the payment of Rs.2000/-
