The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is India's premier central recruiting agency. It is responsible for appointments to and examinations for All India services and group A & group B of Central services. While Department of Personnel and Training is the central personnel agency in India.
The agency's charter is granted by Part XIV of the Constitution of India, titled as Services Under the Union and the States. The commission is mandated by the Constitution for appointments to the services of the Union and All India Services. It is also required to be consulted by the Government in matters relating to the appointment, transfer, promotion and disciplinary matters. The commission reports directly to the President and can advise the Government through him. Although, such advice is not binding on the Government. Being a constitutional authority, UPSC is amongst the few institutions which function with both autonomy and freedom, along with the country’s higher judiciary and lately the Election Commission.
The commission is headquartered at Dholpur House, in New Delhi and functions through its own secretariat. Arvind Saxena is its current Chairman of UPSC.
UPSC Recruitment 2018-19 Notification - Vacancy Details
1. (Vacancy No. 18112101624) Sixteen Air Safety Officer, Directorate General
of Civil Aviation, Ministry of Civil Aviation (ST-01, OBC-03, UR-12). The posts are
permanent. Pay Scale: Level-10 in the pay matrix as per 7th CPC. General Central
Service, Group ‘A’ Gazetted, Non-Ministerial.
Age: 35 years.
QUALIFICATIONS:
ESSENTIAL: EDUCATIONAL: Degree in Aeronautical Engineering from a
recognised University. NOTE-I: Qualifications are relaxable at the discretion of the
Union Public Service Commission for reasons to be recorded in writing, in case of
candidates otherwise well qualified.
2. (Vacancy No. 18112102624) Thirty-Seven Assistant Director of Operations,
Directorate General of Civil Aviation, Ministry of Civil Aviation (SC-05, ST-05,
OBC-08, UR-19). The posts are permanent. Pay Scale: Level-11 in the pay matrix as
per 7th CPC. General Central Service, Group ‘A’ Gazetted, Non-Ministerial.
Age: 40
years.
QUALIFICATIONS: ESSENTIAL: (A) EDUCATIONAL: Degree in Engineering in
Civil or Mechanical or Computer Science or Information Technology or Aeronautical or
Electrical or Electronics disciplines from a recognised University with three years’
experience in; OR Masters Degree in Science in the subjects of Electronics or Physics
with two years’ experience in; OR B. Sc. Degree from a recognised University or
equivalent with Physics or Electronics as subjects with five years’ experience in, -
(a) Air Traffic Control with Aerodrome Control or Approach Control or Area Control
rating; or
(b) Licensing of Aerodromes or Flight Crew or Air Transport; or
(c) Management of Airside operations of major or International Civil Airport; or
(d) Aircraft flying with Commercial Pilot Licence; or
(e) Aircraft flying in Defence Services; or
(f) Flight operations department of a Scheduled Airlines; or
(g) Aerodrome Design and Planning.
3. (Vacancy No. 18112103624) One Deputy Director (Safety) (Mechanical),
Directorate General Factory Advice Service, & Labour Institute (DGFASLI),
Ministry of Labour and Employment (OBC-01). The post is permanent. Pay Scale:
Level-11 in the pay matrix as per 7th CPC. General Central Service, Group ‘A’
Gazetted, Non-Ministerial.
Age: 43* years.
QUALIFICATIONS: ESSENTIAL: (A)
EDUCATIONAL: Degree in Mechanical Engineering of a recognized University or
equivalent.
4. (Vacancy No. 18112104224) Six Scientist ‘B’ (Chemist), Central Ground
Water Board, Ministry of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga
Rejuvenation (SC-01, OBC-01, UR-04). The posts are permanent. Pay Scale: Level10
in the pay matrix as per 7th CPC. General Central Service, Group ‘A’ Gazetted,
(Non-Ministerial-Scientific and Technical).
Age: 35 years.
QUALIFICATIONS:
ESSENTIAL: (A) EDUCATIONAL: Master’s degree in Chemistry from a recognized
University or equivalent*. *The equivalent word is defined as under: Equivalent degree
to M.Sc. degree in Chemistry is M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry / Physical Chemistry /
Inorganic Chemistry / Analytical Chemistry.
