Driver Constable jobs in Assam Police is announced by Addl. Director General of Police (TAP) of Ulubari, Guwahati vide an advertisement notification published in local newspapers of the state. As per the notification, there are about 71 numbers of posts lying vacant which includes 10 backlog that are meant for ST(H) and eligible for male citizens of India and ordinary residents of Assam. The distribution of the vacant posts are further classified into various castes wise reservation such as 27% for OBC & MOBC candidates, 10% for ST(P), 7% for SC and 5% for ST(H) categories. All these job positions are offered at a remuneration package of 5,200-20,200 per month which comes under the PB-2 and includes various other allowances that are admissible under the rules.
Eligibility Criteria for Driver Constable in Assam
In order to apply for this job, one has to be a HSLC passed or have any other equivalent qualification. It is mandatory for candidates to have a valid driving license of his own for either Motor Cycles, LMV, HMV or MMV. The minimum height of the applicant must be 54 for General/SC/ST(P) candidates while 53 for ST(H) candidates. The chest measurements as required for the above mentioned job role is stated to be 80cm as Normal and 85cm after expansion. As part of other medical fitness requirements, the applicants should not be having any kind of physical deformities such as that of having more than 5 fingers, having flat feet or knock knee and so on. There will be some preference which will be given to applicants having some special skills such as repairing of motor vehicles, martial arts skills, NCC trained with certificates, good performer in sports or those who have previous experience of working as home guards.
Physical Efficiency Test, Interview and Driving Test
There will be a few tests which will be conducted for selection of eligible candidates and it will be of 100% marks in total and candidates appearing in the same will have to score atleast 50% marks to qualify in PET. It must be noted here that all candidates have to qualify in all the three tests mentioned above separately such that they may be considered for the final selection.
